Here's the deal

On February 4, 2012 Wesley was in a skiing accident and broke his neck. He is 16 years old and is planning to graduate high school this year. There are not many 16 year old boys as amazing as he is. He is kind, thoughtful, and good looking.to date on his progress. I will make sure Wesley gets to read every comment this blog receives. My siblings and I will try to keep this blog current.

I. Am. A. Robot.

March 13, 2013

My but time flies by. Wes is so busy each day and we get tired just trying to keep up with him. He is in a great routine right now working hard to regain all he can. He still rides horses twice a week and we are trying to change that so he can ride 6 days a week it really strengthens his core and improves his balance. He swims twice a week and he drives almost every day. He is getting stronger and driving is getting easier for him.  A couple of weeks ago Wes’s brother Dallin, went with Wes on a 80 mile drive. They drove 40 miles to a Montana town had lunch and then drove back home. Wes drives in our town of Three Forks and has not had any close calls.

Last week we were in Salt Lake for Therapy at the U of U and Neuroworxs and they verified that Wes is getting stronger and improving. Neuroworxs has a new walking machine that is very Robotic in nature and Wes got to try it out last week.  You can see the machine on the videos we have posted.

About 6 weeks ago Wes had a close call riding horses. His horse spooked and Wes came off. We had a hold of him and just pulled him off the back of the horse. I think everyone was surprised when Wes said He was ready to get right back on the horse.  He is one brave young man.

Wes has improved a lot in his swimming. He swims for 40 min. on his back doing laps and then 20 min. on his stomach. He loves to swim with his nieces and nephews and he has great delight in chasing them around.  There is a pool at Bozeman Hot Springs and is just right for him to chase the kids around and the water is a warm 92 degrees which makes it great for all us.

We continue to work very hard with Wes’s hands and slowly he is getting more movement out of them. Last month we had our son, Dallin, here with his family and it was so nice for Wes to interact with the kids. We also have Brittnee and her family here and there is never a dull moment.   The pictures and video we have posted show a young man that is busy and trying hard. Wes is learning to have fun again.

Thanks for all your prayers Wes, Karen and I really need them and feel there power.

We will try to post some video of Wes getting into his car and driving soon.

Here are a couple pictures of the Wes trying out new equipment at Neuroworx…

I had to add this picture of our nephews because it cracks me up. They were the wise men in the nativity. Ninja wise men.

Sometimes it is hard living across the ocean because it would be fun to be able to see Wes more and I know he would like that because I’m pretty positive that I am his favorite. I’ll try to get videos and more pictures posted on the blog soon.
